Your Best Praia da Luz Holiday

Ah March arrives and i start craving folares and cheese, by the way folar is a traditional sweet (although since this is Portugal there are all kinds of versions, including salty or with meats like ham or linguiça) bread baked in portugal for easter, traditionaly its also baked with an egg inside, its a religious thing, it used to be offered to godfathers and priests at easter time, a sort of rememberance to the parting of bread on the Last Supper, the egg being the simbol of rebirth and resurrection, so with all this folar talk what do we have in store for this Easter March?

Mostra de Doçaria – Doces, Mel e Licores (23 e 24 Março)

Ohh how about some sweets and honey and licors, there will be a small exhibition on the “Mercado do Levante” in Lagos, its organized by the local government of Freguesia de S. Sebastião. The event will take place on the 23rd and 24th of March, on the 23rd its from 17h to 23h and on the 24 its from 14h to 21h (old poster), with Free Entrance.

Feira do Folar e Artesanato de Barão de São João (30 and 31 Março)

Sweet! Nothing like taking a small weekend drive to Barão de São João to try some sweet folares, this fair has a bit of everything, lots of traditional produce, craftwork, local sweets, honey, wine and of course tons of easter folar!!!! Sure ill be there for the folar but there are also exhibits and dances and all sorts of fun! This is organized by the Junta de Freguesia de Barão de São João, its every afternoon from the 29th to the 31st of March, with Free Entrance.

That Praia da Luz is one of the best in Portugal we already know this, but it’s nice to receive some recognition from time to time, so its was with some pride that we see the news that Praia da Luz was ranked number 9 for Best Beach in Portugal from the 2003 TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards, and here are some of the comments from those who visited Luz: “Relaxed with everything you need within a stones throw”, “Great Place to Relax”,”Lovely beach”, “For great and relaxing holidays!”, “Beautiful and quiet”, “Great resort and so central for exploring”.

But the good news don’t stop yet, in the Best Beaches in Europe Ranking, there were 2 more beaches from the Algarve, the 18th was The Falesia Beach in Albufeira and the 22nd was Praia da Ponta da Piedade in Lagos (just next door to Praia da Luz), i think that says it all about the quality and variety of beaches in the Algarve, so next time you come to the Algarve you know you are getting an awesome beach experience!

Here are the latest news on the traditional Festivities of Praia da Luz (this years postcard is pretty original). The festivities are from the 6th to the 9th of September (from Thursday to Sunday), as always you can expect lots of activities all day long, art exhibition, traditional folklore music, Chinicato’s symphonic orchestra, traditional and typical dances, traditional games on the beach, live music, musical theater show, the procession of Nossa Senhora da Luz, food courts with plenty of yummy treats and drinks so lots of fun to be had.

Ahhh June gone, July on the way, Praia da Luz is again bustling with all the fun in the sun (we are having some awesome weather this year!), this is just a reminder that we still have a few dates still open for this season in a couple of our houses for a self catering holiday in and around Praia da Luz, but these last-minute deals are getting far and in between, still we do have a couple of new properties, so there might be some more dates opening up for everyone that found their dates were already fully booked, as always just send us a mail or phone call and we will see what is available!

Apartment 23F – Awesome Modern Apartment right on top of the Beach, you can get any better than that!
Apartment 209 – In the exclusive Porto Dona Maria complex, it has awesome views and a huge communal pool to relax in.
Casa Tosca – This one is a cute little villa in the Luz Hillside, it has a awesome pool and surrounding gardens quite the idyllic summer home.

Also as a side note, I’ve added a couple of new galleries and updated the photos of a couple of our properties that had old photos or photos before renovations/changes.

With the coming Summer Season fast approaching we have lots of new stuff on LuzHolidays, we added some brand new Photo Galeries, so we can add lots of pictures of Praia da Luz as well as more pictures of our houses (adding them to the page would make the pages slower, so if you want more pictures you can check them on their galleries), we have also tweaked a lot of the performance of the site, so LuzHolidays should be faster than ever!

Also we have some brand new villas added in the last couple of days, you should definitely check them out!

Finally we are also adding more ticket availability to more Activities this Summer (like Waterparks, Zoo, Excursions ), last year it was a success and guests really enjoyed the activities, also since most have pick ups in Luz, it just makes it super easy and fun to just have a different Summer day.
